3M has established a scholarship program to assist children of employees who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.
This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability, or national origin.
Applicants to the 3M Vocational and College Scholarship Program must be:
3M National Merit and J.C. and L.A. Duke Scholarship recipients are not eligible to receive an award in this program.
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:
Financial need is not considered.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of 3M play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
Awards for four-year, two-year, and vocational students will be in proportion to the number of applicants from each group.
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $1,000 award. Up to 40 awards will be granted.
Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance in a full-time course of study and continuation of the program by 3M.
Awards are for undergraduate study only.
Recipients who attend a United States Military Academy will receive a one-time nonrenewable award.
All applicants will be notified in mid-May.
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of 3M. Payment is made in August and scholarship checks are payable to the college.
