Live application window: December 2, 2024 through January 30, 2025 4:00 pm Eastern TIme

NJR Service Corporation has established a scholarship program to assist employees’ children or stepchildren who plan to continue their education in college. Renewable scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school of the student’s choice.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the Abrams-Koerner Memorial Scholarship Program must be:

  • Dependent children, age 26 and under, of New Jersey Resources or any of its subsidiaries (collectively, “NJR”) domestic employees who have a minimum of one-year full-time or part-time employment with the company as of the application deadline date.
*Dependent children are defined as natural and legally adopted children or stepchildren living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.
  • High school seniors or graduates or current undergraduates.
  • Planning to enroll in fulltime undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college or university vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.

Also eligible:

  • Children of any deceased NJR employees whose death occurred while he or she was employed full- or part-time by NJR OR
  • Children of retired NJR employees provided an application was submitted prior to the employee’s retirement.

Award Amounts

Up to five (5) Abrams-Koerner Memorial Scholarship awards will be awarded at $1,500 each. A sixth award, the Julie Hoecker-Caverly Memorial Scholarship, will be granted at $2,000, and will be awarded to the top-ranking applicant. Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance in a full-time course of study, continued employment of the student’s parent at NJR Service Corporation, and continuation of the program by NJR Service Corporation.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Awards will not be made for study at a government-subsidized military academy.
