Greif, Inc. Scholarship Program

Greif, Inc. has established a scholarship program to assist colleagues’ children who plan to continue education in college or vocational school programs. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Eligibility

Applicants to the Greif, Inc. Scholarship Program must be:

  • Dependent* children, age 25 and under, of full-time Greif, Inc. colleagues who have a minimum of one year of employment with the company as of the application deadline date.
    *Dependent children are defined as biological children, legally adopted children, children placed with the employee for adoption, stepchildren, and any children for which the employee has legal guardianship.
  • U.S. student applicants must be high school seniors or graduates who plan to enroll or who are already enrolled in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two‑year or four‑year college or university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • International and Canadian student applicants must be students in the final year of upper secondary school or upper secondary school graduates who plan to enroll or students who are already enrolled in full-time undergraduate level studies for the entire upcoming academic year.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $3,000 to $7,000.

Recipients that demonstrate financial need will receive a renewable award. These awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance in a full-time course of study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school. A parent must continue to be employed by Greif, Inc.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Award amounts are subject to change at any time.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in April. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Greif, Inc. Payments to recipients attending university in the U.S. and Canada are made in one installment in early August. Recipients attending university outside of the U.S. or Canada will be sent the funds by wire transfer in September.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • Statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances

Financial need, as determined by Scholarship America, will be considered to determine the amount of each award. Qualified students showing no financial need will be considered eligible to receive a one-time $3,000 award.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Greif, Inc. play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following documents:

  1. A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
    • Student name
    • School name
    • Grades
    • Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

  1. Upper secondary school diploma or certificate, if earned (International applicants only).
  2. Results of examinations (International applicants only).
  3. English translations for any non-English documents.

Your application is not considered complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.
