Children of Lenovo Employees Scholarship Program

Lenovo has established a scholarship program to assist children of employees who plan to continue their education at a four-year college or university. Scholarships are offered for full-time undergraduate study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.

This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship America, a national nonprofit educational support and student aid service organization that seeks to involve and assist the private sector in expanding educational opportunities and encouraging educational achievement.

Applicants to theĀ Children of Lenovo Employees Scholarship Program must be:

  • Be dependent* children, age 26 and under, of full-time Lenovo employees
  • Be high school seniors, high school graduates or be postsecondary undergraduates. Students outside the United States must be in their final year of upper or higher secondary school or be university level students
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study leading to a bachelor’s degree or equivalent at an accredited four-year college or university in any country for the entire upcoming academic year

*Dependent children are defined as natural and legally adopted children or stepchildren.

*Children of Lenovo executives (SVP, VP, ED) are ineligible. (Band 11 and above)

Awards

Up to twenty (20) awards of $5,000 USD (or local currency equivalent) will be granted.

Awards must be applied to the upcoming academic year’s tuition. The remainder, if any, may be used to pay for other education-related expenses (e.g. fees, books, room and board, supplies, etc.).

Provided there are qualified applicants, recipients will be representative of Lenovo’s global, geographically dispersed population.

Awards are not renewable; however, students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Payment of Scholarships

Payment on behalf of Lenovo is made in one installment in August. For recipients from the United States and Canada:

  • Scholarship America mails a check to each recipient’s home address
  • Checks are made payable to the institution for the student
  • It is the student’s responsibility to submit the check to their school.

For recipients from other countries (outside the U.S. and Canada):

  • Scholarship America arranges a wire transfer to each recipient
  • Proof of enrollment is required prior to funds disbursement

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of career and educational goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances statement

Financial need will not be considered.

Notification

Recipients will be notified in late March; the notification will include instructions for verifying enrollment. Non-recipients will be notified by email in late March.

This is a competitive program. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
    • Student name
    • School name
    • Grades
    • Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

  • Applicants from the United States and Canada
    • Students currently or previously enrolled in college or vocational-technical school must include all college or vo-tech transcripts of grades from each school attended.
    • Online transcripts must display student name, school name, grade and credit hours earned for each course, and term in which each course was taken. OR
    • High school seniors and students who have completed less than one full quarter or semester of postsecondary education must include a high school transcript of grades. (A clear explanation of the high school’s grading scale must also be submitted.)
  • Applicants from other countries (outside the U.S. and Canada)
    • Transcript of grades (academic record) for the past three years
    • Secondary school credential/diploma/certificate if earned
    • Results of examinations (if available)

Note: English translations must be provided for all non-English documents.
