Paychex Scholarship Program
Application status: Closed

Paychex offers a competitive scholarship program to assist employees’ children who plan to pursue post-secondary education in college or vocational programs. Each year, twelve (12) new scholarships are offered for part or full-time study at any accredited post-secondary institution of the student’s choice.

The Paychex Scholarship Program is independently managed by Scholarship America. Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, gender, disability, or national origin.

Eligibility
Applicants to the Paychex Scholarship Program must:

  • Be children*, age 25 and under, of part or full-time Paychex employees** with a minimum of one (1) year of service as of the application deadline.
*Child is defined as the son, daughter, stepson, stepdaughter, legally adopted child, or legal ward supported solely by the guardian.
**Dependents of a Paychex Director, Sr. Director, or Executive are not eligible to apply for a scholarship.
  • Be high school seniors or graduates, or current postsecondary undergraduates, who plan to enroll in part or full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of a 2.75 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).

Awards
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $1,500 award. Awards are renewable up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Students must complete and submit a renewal form within established guidelines. Guidelines include recipients meeting renewal request deadline dates, maintaining satisfactory academic performance in a full-time undergraduate program, and continued employment by Paychex of the recipient’s parent.

Awards are for undergraduate study only and limited to one per family.

Selection of Recipient
Scholarship America will select the finalists using the following criteria:

  • Consideration of past academic performance (1/3);
  • Leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, statement of career and educational aspirations and goals, unique personal or family circumstances that describes how the student overcame challenges to reach their goals (1/3); and
  • Online appraisal/recommendation (1/3).

All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification
Applicants will be notified in June whether or not they have been awarded a scholarship. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Paychex provided the parent remains an active employee and the recipient verification has been received. Payments are made payable to the institution in one installment in early August and sent to the recipient’s home address.
