Precision Drilling Employees' Dependent Children Scholarship Program

Precision has established a scholarship program to assist children of employees who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Precision Drilling Employees’ Dependent Children Scholarship Program must be:

  • Be dependent* children, of full-time Precision employees in Canada or the United States as of the application deadline date.
  • High school seniors or graduates or in their final year of upper or higher secondary school, or be current postsecondary undergraduate, technical (vocational) or university level students.
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university or vocational, technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.

*Dependent children are defined as per Precision’s definition of a child for benefit purposes. Dependents of inactive, part-time, contract or temporary employees are not eligible.

For the purposes of this program “Precision” includes Precision Drilling Corporation, Precision Drilling Holdings Company, Precision Drilling Company LP and all their related, affiliated and subsidiary entities in Canada and the United States.

Award Information:

  • If selected as a recipient, students will receive an award in USD or CAN currency.
  • 34 awards of $2,500 will be granted.
  • 1 award of $5,000 (The Yook Tong Scholarship) will be granted to the top ranking engineering student.

Awards are not renewable; however, students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. Students may receive only four (4) Precision scholarships during their lifetime.

Awards are for full-time undergraduate study and only for students completing their first bachelor degree or diploma program.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in August. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Precision. Payments are made in one installment in late September/early October. U.S. students will receive their award in U.S. currency; Canadian students will receive their award in Canadian currency.

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Honors
  • Work experience
  • Statement of career and educational goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Precision play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.
  • One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than August 5, 2024 3:00 pm Central Time.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.
