Universal Music Group Lew Wasserman Scholarship Program
Deadline to apply: May 23, 2024 3:00 pm Central Time

Universal Music Group has established a scholarship program to assist children of employees who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Universal Music Group Lew Wasserman Scholarship Program must be:

  • Children* of full-time domestic employees of Universal Music Group. Employees must have completed a minimum one (1) year of continuous full time employment with Universal Music Group as of the application deadline date.
*Children are defined as natural born or adopted children, stepchildren or children for whom the Universal Music Group employee has been appointed legal guardian or been given legal custody.
  • High school seniors or graduates, or current postsecondary undergraduates, who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.

The combined income of an applicant’s family may not exceed $300,000.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $500 to $4,000. Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Once scholarship recipients are selected, financial data is reviewed to determine the amount of each award, ranging from $500 to $4,000. Recipients who demonstrate no financial need are eligible for awards at the $500 minimum amount.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Universal Music Group play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in July.
