Canadian Pacific Kansas City Canadian Scholarship Program

Canadian Pacific Kansas City has established a scholarship program to assist children of employees who plan to continue their education in college, university, or vocational school programs.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals.  Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

If you are employed in Canada, you MUST complete the Canadian application. If you are employed in the United States, you MUST complete the U.S. application to be considered for an award.

Applicants to the: Canadian Pacific Kansas City Canadian Scholarship Program must be:

  • Dependent children of eligible Canadian Pacific Kansas City employees.
    • Eligible employees are any employee of Canadian Pacific Kansas City, Soo Line Railroad, Delaware & Hudson Railroad, or DM&E Railroad with an active status that are employed at the time the awards are issued (including employees on leaves of absence approved by CPKC). Children of employees deceased in active service or retired during the award year are also eligible for an award in that year.
  • Students who plan to enroll for the entire upcoming academic year no later than Fall 2024 in a full-time undergraduate or graduate/doctoral course of study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, C.E.G.E.P., or vocational-technical school in the United States or Canada.

No deferrals will be granted.

Awards must be used in the award year that they are granted.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $1,000 award.

Awards are for one year only. Awards are not renewable; however, students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Awards are for undergraduate and graduate/doctoral study.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances

Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Canadian Pacific Kansas City play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in late-July.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Canadian Pacific Kansas City. Payment is made in mid-August and will be issued in Canadian dollars.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

    (U.S. Only) NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
