The Jack Hume Scholarship Foundation Fund
Deadline to apply: May 2, 2024 3:00 pm CT

The Jack Hume Scholarship Fund has been developed to encourage the children of Basic American Foods employees to continue their education beyond high school and to assist employees in meeting the financial challenge of providing this level of education.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Jack Hume Scholarship Foundation Fund must be:

  • Children* age 25 or under (as of December 31, 2024) for technical and undergraduate study or age 27 or under (as of December 31, 2024) for graduate study, of a regular Basic American Foods employee or child of an employee who died while eligible.
*Children is defined as a natural or legally adopted child or stepchild.
  • High school seniors or graduates who plan to enroll or students who are already enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate course of study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school during the 2024-2025 academic year.

Awards

The program will award all applicants, providing they meet eligibility standards and enroll in an accredited educational institution as described above.

Awards are $1,500 each, provided students are enrolled for the full academic year.

Students may receive a Jack Hume Scholarship award for up to a total of eight terms for technical and undergraduate study or until a certificate or degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Students may also receive an award for up to a total of four terms for graduate study or until a degree is earned, whichever occurs first.

Students must maintain full-time enrollment and satisfactory academic performance, as defined by the educational institution where they are enrolled. The employee (parent) must continue to meet eligibility requirements.

Scholarships are NOT automatically renewable. Current scholarship recipients who wish to continue receiving their award for the upcoming academic year must also complete an application updating personal data, parental employment, and post-secondary school information, and submit it along with a current complete transcript of grades.

Awards are for undergraduate or graduate study.
