Acuity, A Mutual Insurance Company, has established a scholarship program to assist children of employees who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at any accredited institution of the student’s choice.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Acuity Scholarship Program must be:

  • Dependent* children, age 24 and under, of full-time Acuity, A Mutual Insurance Company employees who have a minimum of five (5) years employment with the company as of the application deadline date and remain employed as of August 1 and December 1 of the program year.
*Dependent children are defined as natural and legally adopted children or stepchildren living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.
  • High school seniors or graduates, or students who have obtained a GED, who plan to enroll or students who are already enrolled in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.

Recipients attending a four-year state college or university or a private college or university are eligible for a $1,000 – $5,000 award; only one award for $5,000 will be granted each year. Recipients demonstrating no need or whose parents choose not to complete the financial section are eligible for a $1,000 award.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Acuity. Payments are made in mid-August and mid-December.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances

Once recipients are selected, financial data is reviewed to determine the amount of each award.
