National Campers and Hikers Association Hank Nathan Scholarship, Inc.
Application status: Closed

The National Campers and Hikers Association Hank Nathan Scholarship, Inc. has established a scholarship program to assist members in good standing or dependent children* of members in good standing of the Family Campers and RVers (FCRV) who plan to continue their education in college.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to The National Campers and Hikers Association Hank Nathan Scholarship, Inc. must be:

  • Members in good standing or dependent children* of members in good standing of the Family Campers and RVers (FCRV). Parents, guardians, or applicants must be members of FCRV for 18 months or longer immediately prior to the application deadline date, April 15.
*Dependent children are defined as follows: Students applying under their parents’/guardians’ membership must be dependents thereof for the year of the scholarship award. This means the applicant is declared as a tax deduction.
  • High school seniors or graduates, current postsecondary undergraduates, graduate students or trade students, who plan to enroll in a full-time or part-time undergraduate or graduate course of study at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Part-time students must carry a minimum of six credits per term.
  • High school students should rank in the upper 40 percent of their class.
  • Applicants enrolled in college must have a cumulative B average or above (2.3 grade point average on a 4.0 scale).

Applicants are also encouraged to use a personal permanent email (hotmail, gmail, yahoo, etc.) when registering their profile, rather than a school email that they may lose access to in the future.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $250 to $2,000 each plus one $2,500 Schuh award. The size of each award will be determined according to FCRV/NCHA merit points. Preference will be given to qualified applicants who intend to pursue majors in fields related to conservation, ecology, or outdoor activities. Part-time recipients will receive one-half of an award.

Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Awards are for undergraduate, graduate or trade school. Membership must be maintained for the duration of the award.

Financial need will not be considered.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in June.
