TRALA Industry Scholarship Program

The TRALA Industry Scholarship Program awards scholarships to TRALA-member company employees/interns or their children to pursue vocational training as maintenance technicians or a four-year degree in the truck transportation industry. The program has no age limit and eligible veterans are also encouraged to apply. Scholarship recipients can receive up to $5,000 in scholarships over two years if the minimum grade point average is maintained.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability, or national origin.

Applicants of the TRALA Industry Scholarship Program award must be:

    • Employees or interns of TRALA member companies in North America;
      OR
      Dependents/children of part-time or full-time employees or interns of TRALA member companies in North America.

*Dependents/children are defined as natural and legally adopted children, stepchildren or legal wards.

  • High school graduates, or current undergraduates pursuing a course of study related to the truck transportation industry at an accredited two-year vocational program or four-year college or university.
    Examples include, but are not limited to Heavy Duty Truck Technology, Diesel Technology, Industrial Mechanics and Medium/Heavy Vehicle Technology.

Award information:

  • If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $2,500 award
  • Awards are renewable up to one time or until a degree or certificate is earned, whichever occurs first, on the basis of satisfactory academic progress
  • Award money is valid for use on tuition, books and supplies. It is not valid for room and board
  • Past recipients may not reapply. Non-recipients may reapply for each application period they are eligible
  • Awards are for vocational and undergraduate study

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • Statement of goals and aspirations
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of TRALA play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in January. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each cycle they meet eligibility requirements.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of TRALA. Payments are made in one installment in January.

As part of your application, you must upload the following document:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Unofficial or online transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

Also as part of your application, one online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf.

Your application is not complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.
