Stanley Black & Decker has established the DEWALT Trades Scholarship to assist individuals attending a two-year college or vocational-technical school who are pursuing a trade degree/certificate in an industry aligned with the Stanley Black & Decker Trade Goals – including but are not limited to Construction, Industrial, Motor/Power Sector, Mechanics, and Technology.
This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.
Individuals pursuing degrees/certificates in service industries such as culinary arts, cosmetology, or hospitality are ineligble.
Employees of and dependent children of Stanley Black & Decker employees and its affiliates are ineligible.
You will be notified of the status of your application in March. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. Past recipients may not re-apply.
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Stanley Black & Decker. Payments are made in early August.
Financial need will be considered. Recipients must demonstrate need.
Academic evaluation will include a review of the grade/mark average based on the grading system used in the applicant’s country and a review of the results of academic examinations.
Assuming there are qualified applicants, preference will be given to those who self-identify as American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian, Black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander, indigenous people of Canada, and/or be an individual with a disability, and/or self-identify as LGBTQIA+.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Stanley Black & Decker play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
Each applicant will be required to submit an essay on the topic: How will a career in construction and/or the trades empower your future? The essay must be less than 300 words.
NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload an official copy of those test scores separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.
Your application is not complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically. The Financial Data Form will not be accepted as a substitute for the first two pages of the most recently filed tax documents.
