SoCalGas Intern Scholarship Program

SoCalGas has established a scholarship program to assist current interns who are continuing their education in undergraduate and graduate studies.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team and SoCalGas.

Applicants to the SoCalGas Intern Scholarship Program must:

  • Be a current intern at SoCalGas
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 grade scale or its equivalent
  • Plan to enroll full-time at an accredited four-year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year to pursue an undergraduate or graduate degree

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $5,000 award. Up to five (5) awards will be granted.

Awards are one-time only. Past recipients may not reapply.

Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study only.

Awards are to be used for qualified education-related expenses (tuition, fees, books, and required supplies and equipment) only.

Recipients must be a current intern at SoCalGas to receive the award. Recipients must be a current intern at SoCalGas at time of application.

Interns may not receive an award from any other SoCalGas scholarship in the same academic year.

Awards may be considered taxable income.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship finalists are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Work experience
  • An online recommendation (completed by applicant’s internship supervisor)
  • An essay*

*Essay Topic: Please write an essay that addresses your long-term goals and your strengths and abilities. Please include your educational and career objectives and describe how your strengths and abilities relate to achieving your long-term goals. (1,000 characters)

Applicants will be asked to upload their resume as part of their application. SoCalGas will review all application materials.

Selection of 10 finalists is made by Scholarship America. SoCalGas will select recipients. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Financial need will be considered.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in early August.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of SoCalGas. Payment is made in mid-August.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.
  • A current resume

One online recommendation form must be submitted from your internship supervisor on your behalf no later than July 9, 2024 3:00 pm Central Time.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
