Sister Roch Rochlage, Sisters of Mercy Meacham Park Legacy Scholarship

Mercy has established a scholarship program to assist a current resident of Meacham Park neighborhood who plans to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Sister Roch Rochlage, Sisters of Mercy Meacham Park Legacy Scholarship must:

  • Be a high school senior or graduate or current college undergraduate
  • Be a current resident (permanent address) of Meacham Park neighborhood*
  • Plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-or-four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent

Children of employees of Mercy Health are ineligible.

*As defined by the city of Kirkwood, in Kirkwood, MO.

Awards

The award recipient will receive a $25,000 scholarship that can be spread across the student’s undergraduate study only. The student will notify Scholarship America by end of May.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in late February.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payment on behalf of Mercy. Payment is made in early August.

Selection of Finalists

The scholarship finalists will be selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Financial need will be considered. The recipient must demonstrate need.

Assuming there are qualified applicants, preference will be given to applicants who plan to pursue a degree in a healthcare-related field.

Selection of finalists is made by Scholarship America. Mercy will select the recipient. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
    • Student name
    • School name
    • Grades
    • Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.
  • Copy of the first two pages of the most recently filed IRS Form 1040 used for the Financial Information section of the application.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than December 11, 2024 3:00 pm Central Time.
