Samuel Epstein Foundation Fund

The Samuel Epstein Foundation Trust has established a scholarship program to assist graduating high school seniors at Sheffield Area Middle High School, Sheffield, PA who plan to continue their education in college.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Samuel Epstein Foundation Fund must:

  • Be graduating high school seniors at Sheffield Area Middle High School, Sheffield, PA who have attended Sheffield Area Middle High School for at least two years prior to graduation.
  • Be enrolled or plan to enrolled at a two- or four-year college or university in the United States for the entire upcoming academic year.

PNC Employees, children of PNC employees or Trust committee members are ineligible.

Awards

SAI will select up to 10 finalists and Sponsor will select recipients. Sponsor will determine award amounts. Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance in a full-time course of study.

Funds are not transferable and are for undergraduate study only.

Notification

Recipients will be notified in March.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Samuel Epstein Foundation Trust – PNC Bank, N.A Trustee. Payment is made in August.

Selection Criteria

The program will use SAI finalist selection criteria including the consideration of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • A custom 1,000-character essay: How do you believe a college education will enable you to give back to and contribute to or change your community?

Financial need is not considered. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.  All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
    • Student name
    • School name
    • Grades
    • Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
