Alliant Energy Children of Employees Scholarship Program
Deadline to apply: February 17, 2020 3:00 pm CT

The Alliant Energy Children of Employees Scholarship Program has been created to identify children of Alliant Energy employees who have achieved excellent records in high school and to provide financial assistance to those students as they pursue higher education.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to the actual or perceived race, religion, national origin, ancestry, disability, age, gender, or sexual orientation of any applicant.

Applicants to the Alliant Energy Children of Employees Scholarship Program must meet ALL of the following criteria:

  • Must be a dependent* child of an Alliant Energy benefit eligible employee who has a minimum of one year of continuous service by January 1.  This includes all union and non-union employees who are part-time 50 percent or greater.  Children of employees who have retired from the company and are covered by the pension plan or children of deceased employees (employed full-time at the time of death or who died after retiring) are also eligible for the program.
*Dependent children are described in the company’s insurance plans.
  • Must be a high school senior or recent high school graduate (within three years).
  • Must be enrolling for the first time in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school in the U.S. for the entire upcoming academic year.

Dependent children of company officers, vice presidents and directors are not eligible.

Award Amounts

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $1,500 award.  Up to twenty-five (25) awards will be granted.

Awards are not renewable, and are limited to one per family per year.

Federal service academy applicants are eligible to apply.  Applicants attending U.S. Service academies if chosen as a recipient will receive a one-time $1,500 award.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of educational and career goals, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an online recommendation. Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Alliant Energy play a part in the selection. Decisions are final and are not subject to appeal.  The program is competitive; not all applicants will be selected as recipients.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in late March.
