At Amazon, supporting underserved students in computer science and supply chain is not only important to us–it’s imperative to building a diverse industry and future. Amazon’s Black Employee Network has established a scholarship program to assist high school seniors who plan to continue their education in college and pursue a computer science or supply chain-related field of study and career. Recipients of the award receive $5,000 per year for four years for college, plus a connection to industry mentors and peers from Amazon’s Black Employee network. This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals.
Applicants to the Amazon Black Employee Network Scholarship must meet all of the following criteria:
Employees of Amazon, or its affiliates or subsidiaries, and their immediate family members are not eligible to apply.
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:
Financial need will be considered. Recipients must demonstrate need.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Amazon Black Employee Network play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
**Goals Statement Topic: Describe your career goals and aspirations. How do you plan to use your computer science or supply chain degree to accomplish your goals?
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $5,000 award. Up to ten (10) awards will be granted.
Assuming there are qualified applicants, five (5) awards will be granted to students pursuing a degree in a computer science field of study and five (5) awards will be granted in supply chain-related field of study.
Applicants may receive both the Amazon Black Employee Network and the Amazon Future Engineer scholarships.
Amazon Black Employee Network Scholarship Awards are renewable for up to three (3) additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, on the basis of satisfactory academic performance and fulltime enrollment in an eligible field of study.
Awards are for undergraduate study only.
All applicants will be notified in May.
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Amazon Black Employee Network. Payment is made in early August.
Participation in Scholarship America’s financial literacy tool, WhichWay is offered to scholarship recipients. Recipients will be invited to download the WhichWay app and register to participate in activities that encourage financial literacy to help guide a student to financial stability and success.
