Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $1,000 to $5,000.

New in 2025: No renewable scholarships will be granted to new recipients. Going forward, all new recipients who meet eligibility requirements may reapply on a yearly basis.

For past recipients (2024 and prior): Awards for recipients attending a two- or four-year college or university are renewable up to three times or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, on the basis of satisfactory academic performance and full-time enrollment. Awards for recipients attending vocational-technical programs are renewable once and for one additional year should the course of study require it. Recipients graduating from a vocational-technical program and transferring to a four-year college must reapply to be considered for another award.

Students attending community/junior colleges and vocational-technical schools will be evaluated in a separate pool.

Students graduating and receiving a diploma or certificate at their community/junior college or vocational-technical school will be considered to be attending a vocational-technical school. (Please choose this school option within your application.) Students receiving an associate’s degree at their community/junior college or vocational-technical school will be considered to be attending a community/junior college. (Please choose this school option within your application.)

Recipients attending military service academies will receive a one-time scholarship for their first year at the military service academy. These students may not reapply to the program in future years.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances

Once recipients are selected, financial data is reviewed to determine the amount of each award, ranging from $1,000 to $5,000. Scholarship recipients who do not demonstrate financial need or whose parents choose not to supply the requested financial information will be eligible to receive a minimum award only.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America based on the funds available from the Amcor Cares Foundation. In no instance does any officer or employee of Amcor play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification
Applicants will be notified in early April. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Per IRS Revenue Procedure 76-47, up to 25% of eligible applicants may be awarded. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Payment of Scholarships
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of the Amcor Cares Foundation. Recipients will receive their checks in early August made payable to the school.
