AMNH Lang Science Scholarship Program
Application status: Closed

The American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) Lang Science Program will offer a scholarship opportunity (The Scholarship) to all Lang Science Team students who satisfy the requirements outlined below. The scholarships will be available to undergraduate students for use at accredited two-year or four-year colleges or at accredited post-secondary vocational schools (alternatively called college, school or institution).

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards for this scholarship are granted to eligible recipients without regard to creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the AMNH Lang Science Scholarship Program must:

  • Have been participating members of the AMNH Lang Science Program for at least six years if student entered the program before 7th grade or at least seven years if student entered the program before 6th grade.
  • Have received their high school diploma at the expected graduation date for the academic year 2021-2022 or earlier.
  • Have been accepted by and matriculated at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university or a vocational-technical school for the 2022-2023 academic year.
  • Be enrolled full-time and continuously, without interruption or leave of absence, unless student has applied for an exception. (If an exception is granted, student will remain eligible for the scholarship provided the student returns to school within a two-year period.)
  • Remain in good standing as defined by the college, university or vocational-technical school.

The scholarships will be up to $2,000 each. Awards are one-time only and are not renewable.

The Scholarship may be used for tuition, fees, books, supplies, or other required educational support expenses as determined by the student and/or institution.

Awards may be used for undergraduate study only.

All applicants will be notified in September.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of the American Museum of Natural History. Payment is made in September. A check of up to $2,000 will be made payable to the student’s institution and mailed to the student’s permanent home mailing address.

Selection of Recipients

Financial need will be considered in determining the amount of each award. Potential recipients who do not demonstrate need (or who do not provide financial information) will not be eligible to receive an award but may be asked to apply again in the following year (should they continue to meet eligibility guidelines).

The award is intended to be last-dollar and not reduce other scholarships or grants. It is intended that all applicants who meet eligibility requirements and do not have 100% of their postsecondary expenses covered by other gift aid (scholarships, grants, and other awards that do not need to be paid back) will receive an AMNH Lang Science scholarship. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.
  • A copy of your Financial Award Letter. This will need to depict both expected Fall and expected Spring aid.
  • Proof of Enrollment (Class Schedule, Fee Statement, etc.)

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
