Raul and Gloria Andrade Scholarship

The Andrade Family has established a scholarship program to assist employees, children and grandchildren of employees of Los Altos Food Products, Coralin LLC and their subcontractor or independent contractors who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

The use of the Los Altos Food Products, LLC (“LAFP”) logo and trademark in connection with the Raul and Gloria Andrade Scholarship (“Scholarship”) is for informational purposes only. Scholarship is an independent entity. Sigma, affiliates and its parent company are not affiliated with or in any way associated with this Scholarship. Any references to Los Altos Foods Products, LLC or Sigma are for informational purposes only and does not imply any relationship, sponsorship, or endorsement by Sigma or its associated entities.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Raul and Gloria Andrade Scholarship must meet one of the following:

  • Be or have been a prior temporary or full-time employee of (a) Los Altos Food Products, and/or (b) Coralin, and/or (c) a subcontractor or independent contractor for either entity, who has/had a minimum of 2 years of employment (in good standing) with the applicable company on or before May 3, 2023
    OR
  • Be a dependent child* or grandchild** age 25 and under, of any person who satisfied the above requirements
    *Dependent children are defined as biological, step- or legally adopted children living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee
    **Grandchildren do not need to be dependents of employees
    AND meet all of the following criteria:
  • Be a high school senior, high school graduate (or GED recipient) or a current college undergraduate, and
  • Plan to enroll in full-time or part-time (at least 6 credits per term) undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $7,500 award. Up to 10 awards will be granted.

Awards are renewable for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance and full-time enrollment.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Awards are for qualified education-related expenses only (tuition, fees, books and required supplies/equipment).

Notification

All applicants will be notified in July.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of the Andrade family. Payment is made in August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic performance
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • Financial need
  • Custom essay

Financial need will be considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of the Andrade Family play a part in the selection.

Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
    • Student name
    • School name
    • Grades
    • Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.
  • Copy of the first two pages of the most recently filed IRS Form 1040 used for the Financial Information section of the application. Please black out all social security numbers and bank account information.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
