Arborjet Taking Root Scholarship Program

Arborjet has established the Taking Root Scholarship Program to encourage and enable bright and promising young students to fulfill their dreams of entering careers in the arboriculture industry.

This program is administered by Scholarship America┬«, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the Arborjet Taking Root Scholarship Program must:

  • Be citizens or legal residents of the United States
  • High school seniors who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Plan to pursue an urban forestry related major and career (e.g. Urban Forestry, Plant Sciences, Horticulture, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Environmental Science and Biology as it relates to plant science. This does not include majors in the medical, wildlife, marine, or climate science fields.


The authorized distribution for new awards is up to $10,000. Sponsor will select up to 10 recipients.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship America selects finalists on the basis of academic performance, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, a statement of career and educational goals and objectives, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an online recommendation.

Financial need is not considered.

Scholarship America identifies finalists and an application selection committee will select recipients.

All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.


Applicants will be notified in July. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Arborjet. Payment is made in one installment in August.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

Also as part of your application, one online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf.

Your application is not complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.
