ArcBest Employee Dependent Scholarship Program
Application status: Closed

ArcBest has established a scholarship program to assist children of employees who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the ArcBest Employee Dependent Scholarship Program must:

  • Be dependent* children of full-time employees in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada who have a minimum of three years of employment with the company as of the application deadline date and are in good standing with the company.
*Dependent children are defined as biological, adopted, foster children, step-children, legal wards, or children of a person standing in loco parentis under age 24 as of the application deadline date.
  • Be high school seniors/students in their final year of upper secondary school or final year of CEGEP studies or an upper secondary school graduate who will be enrolling in college for the first time* and must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
*Students who have completed undergraduate level courses while in high school/upper secondary school are eligible.
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school (or equivalent).

Dependent children of Directors, Vice Presidents, and above are ineligible.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $2,000 USD award. Up to ten awards will be granted. No more than 25% of eligible applicants will be selected as recipients.

Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance (minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale) in a full-time course of study (completion of at least 24 semester hours during the immediately preceding academic year) and continuation of the program by ArcBest.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in early April.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of ArcBest. Payment is made in early August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances

Academic evaluation will include a review of the grade/mark average based on the grading system used in the applicant’s country and a review of the results of academic examinations.

Financial need, as calculated by Scholarship America, must be demonstrated for the student to receive an award. Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of ArcBest play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
