Arch Resources Scholarship Program

The Arch Resources Scholars Program recognizes the outstanding high school achievements of dependent sons and daughters of active employees of Arch Resources, Inc. and its subsidiaries. The program is designed to provide financial support to assist students in realizing their goals for higher education.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Arch Resources Scholars Program must be:

  • Dependent children, whose parents or legal guardians are employees of Arch Resources, Inc. or its subsidiaries who have a minimum of two years of full-time employment as of the application deadline and is an active employee at the time of selection.
  • High school seniors who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school.

Award Amounts

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $2,000 award.  Up to eight (8) awards will be granted.

Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance as follows:

  • Freshman year: Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
  • Sophomore year: Cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale
  • Junior year: Cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

Recipients must remain enrolled in a full-time undergraduate course of study to remain eligible to renew their award. Renewals will not be subject to employment status of the Arch Resources, Inc. employee parent. Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Scholarship deferrals may be granted to students for a leave of absence from their studies for special circumstances. Requests for deferral must be submitted in writing to Scholarship America.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Arch Resources, Inc. or any of its subsidiaries play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in late April. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Arch Resources, Inc. Payments are made in one installment in early August.

Obligations

Recipients have no obligation to Arch Resources, Inc. They are, however, required to notify Scholarship America of any changes in address, school enrollment, or other relevant information, and to send a complete official transcript when requested.

Revisions

Arch Resources, Inc. reserves the right to review the conditions and procedures of this scholarship program and to make changes at any time, including termination of the program.

As part of your application, you must upload the following document:

  • Current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course, and term in which each course was taken.

    NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of those test scores separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than March 7, 2024 3:00 pm Central Time.

Your application is not considered complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.
