Applicants to the AstraZeneca Citizens’ Foundation Scholarship Program must:

  • Dependent* children up to the age of 23 (or up to age 28 in the case of a physical disability) of active full-time or part-time AstraZeneca or MedImmune US employees.
*Dependent children are defined as natural and legally adopted children or stepchildren living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.
  • High school seniors or graduates, or current postsecondary undergraduates, who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Applicants must demonstrate need, including financial need and/or a physical or learning disability.

A minimum of one student will be chosen who has a grade point average no higher than 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).

Children of AstraZeneca or MedImmune Vice Presidents or above are not eligible for the program. Students who have received an AstraZeneca National Merit Scholarship are not eligible.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $3,000 award. Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, on the basis of satisfactory academic progress and continued parental employment. A parent must be employed by AstraZeneca or MedImmune at the time awards are paid.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, a statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an online recommendation.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of AstraZeneca play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in May.
