Barnard Family Memorial Scholarship Program
Deadline to apply: January 16, 2025 3:00 pm CT

Vita-Mix Corporation has established a scholarship program to assist children of employees or eligible Shareholders who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals.

Applicants to the Barnard Family Memorial Scholarship Program must be:

  • Dependent* children of full-time employees or eligible Shareholders of the Sponsor.
*Dependent children are defined as natural and legally adopted children or stepchildren or legal wards who qualify as federal tax exemptions to the employee.
  • High school seniors or graduates who plan to enroll or students who are already enrolled in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire 2024-25 academic year.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $2,000 award. Up to three (3) awards will be granted in memoriam of the following Barnard Family members:

  • William G. Barnard, Jr.
  • Ruth M. Barnard
  • William Grover Barnard, III

Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance in a full-time course of study and continued parental employment, except in the case of an involuntary Separation from Service without Cause.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in March.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Vita-Mix Corporation. Payment is made in August.

Selection of Finalists and Recipients

Scholarship finalists and recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives

Financial need is not considered.

From the pool of qualified finalists, the sponsor will select scholarship recipients. Provided there are qualified applicants, at least one scholarship will be awarded to a dependent of an hourly employee.

Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
