Bimbo Bakeries USA (BBU) has established a scholarship program to support the advanced education of our associates’ children and grandchildren by awarding fifty (50) one-time scholarships to eligible applicants each year.
This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability, or national origin.
Be a child (includes stepchildren and legal dependent* children) or grandchild of a full-time or part-time BBU associate in the U.S. and Canada; associate must have at least one year of service with BBU as of December 31, 2019.
*Dependent children are Children who qualify as federal tax exemptions to the employee.
Up to fifty (50) awards will be granted as follows:
Provided there are qualified applicants, recipients from the U.S. and Canada will be selected in proportion to the number of applicants from each country.
The award checks will be issued in U.S. currency.
Awards may be applied to tuition, fees, books, supplies and equipment required for course load at accredited, nonprofit two- or four-year colleges, universities or vocational-technical schools.
Students may transfer from one institution to another and retain the award.
Awards are one-time only. Past recipients may not reapply.
Awards are for undergraduate study only.
Applicants will be notified in June. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of BBU. Payments are made in one installment in late July.
Financial need is not considered.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or associate of BBU play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
A letter of recommendation from someone who knows you well and has served in one of the following roles for you: teacher, counselor, mentor, coach, employer, community leader, religious leader, or adult family friend. Your letter of recommendation should address your demonstrated initiative, ability to think creatively, and integrity. The required letter of recommendation should be limited to one page in length and must include contact information for the recommender and must be uploaded and submitted on your behalf by 3:00 p.m. Central Time on May 5, 2020.
