Award Amounts

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a U.S. $3,000 award. In no case shall the award amount exceed the cost of one year’s educational expenses. Awards distributed shall be made in proportion to the number of eligible applications received from each region.

70% of scholarships will be awarded to applicants majoring in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers; 30% will be awarded to students pursuing degrees in all other majors. A change in major after selection may nullify the scholarship award.

Awards are not renewable and are for undergraduate study only.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of past academic performance and future potential, demonstrated leadership and participation in school activities, volunteer community activities, work experience, statement of career and educational aspirations and goals, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an outside appraisal.

Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

In no instance does any officer or employee of Bechtel Group Foundation play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
