Big Canyon Country Club Scholarship Program

Big Canyon Country Club, in partnership with the Orange County Community Foundation, has established a scholarship program to assist children of employees who plan to continue their education in college or vocational-technical school.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Eligibilities

Current employees of Big Canyon Country Club that meet the following criteria:

  • Have worked at least 90 days.
  • Plan to enroll full-time or part-time at an accredited college, university or vocational college with the intention of completing a two-year or four- year degree program, a master’s degree or vocational-technical degree.

OR
Children, spouse and grandchildren of eligible employees of Big Canyon Country Club that meet the following criteria:

    • Be under the age of 30 at the time of the initial award. (Doesn’t apply to spouses)
    • Be high school seniors or graduates, have a GED, be current postsecondary undergraduates or in graduate school.
    • Be in good standing with their school.*
    • Plan to enroll full-time or part-time at an accredited college, university or vocational college with the intention of completing a two-year or four- year degree program, a master’s degree or vocational-technical degree.

* Applicants planning to enroll in vocational-technical or city college schools do not have to meet this requirement.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record (not considered for vocation school-bound students)
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • Statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Big Canyon or of the Orange County Community Foundation play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Awards

Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

School type is used to determine the amount of each award.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in April.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Orange County Community Foundation. Payments are made in August.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

    NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload an official copy of those test scores separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
