Blount FIne Foods Scholarship Program

Blount Fine Foods has established a scholarship program to assist employees’ children and grandchildren who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability, or national origin.

Eligibility
Applicants to the Blount Fine Foods Scholarship Program must be:

  • Dependent* children and grandchildren, age 26 and under, of full-time Blount Fine Foods employees who have a minimum of six (6) months of employment with the company as of the application deadline.
    *Dependent children refers to natural or legally adopted children or stepchildren of the employee who qualify for benefits provided by the company.
  • High school seniors or graduates who plan to enroll or students who are already enrolled in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale (or the equivalent). Students enrolled in a four-year or graduate program with a 3.0 or higher may be eligible to receive one of up to two special awards.

Children and grandchildren of owners are ineligible to apply.

Award

Awards of $1,000 will be granted to up to 48 recipients. Awards of $10,000 will be granted to up to three (3) recipients. Award amounts may vary based on number of applicants received. Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. Their parent or guardian must be actively employed at the time of application and award.

Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an outside appraisal. Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Blount Fine Foods play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification
Applicants will be notified in May. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Payment of Scholarships
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Blount Fine Foods. Payments are made in one installment in early August. Checks are mailed to each recipient’s home address and are made payable to the school for the student.

As part of your application, you must upload the following document:

  1. Current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Unofficial or online transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course, and term in which each course was taken.

Also as part of your application, one online recommendation must be submitted on your behalf.

Your application is not considered complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.
