Boyd Gaming Corporation College Scholarship Program

Boyd Gaming Corporation has established a scholarship program to assist team member’s dependent children who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. Scholarships are offered each year for study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.

This program is administered by Scholarship America┬«, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the Boyd Gaming Corporation College Scholarship Program must:

  • Be dependent children*, age 21 and under, of full-time Boyd Gaming Team Members who have completed their introductory period of one year of service as of the application deadline date.

*Dependent children are defined as biological, step- or legally adopted children living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the Team Member.

  • Be high school seniors or graduates or current postsecondary undergraduates who plan to enroll or students who are already enrolled in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- year or four- year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).

Children of Team Members earning more than $90,000 annually are ineligible.

At this time, the Boyd Gaming Scholarship Program is not in place for Team Members at Ameristar and Belterra Properties.

Award information:

  • The authorized distribution for new awards is $50,000.
  • Up to 20 awards of $2,500 will be granted.
  • Awards are renewable at $1,500 for up to three years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, on the basis of maintaining a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).
  • Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • Statement of goals and aspirations
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • A short essay about why the scholarship is important to you
  • An online recommendation

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Boyd Gaming Corporation play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in July. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Boyd Gaming Corporation. Awards will be paid in one installment in early August.

As part of your application, you must upload the following documents:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Unofficial or online transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

Also as part of your application, one online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than 3:00 p.m. Central Time on May 20, 2019.

Your application is not complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.
