BridgeUP: STEM Brown Scholarship Program

The American Museum of Natural History has established a scholarship program to students who plan to continue their education at an accredited four-year college or university.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance, and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards for this scholarship are granted to eligible recipients without regard to creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, disability, or national origin.

Eligibility
Applicants to the BridgeUP: STEM Brown Scholarship Program must be ~

  • A Brown Scholar who has successfully completed the internship component of the Brown Scholars Program.
  • High school seniors or graduates, or current postsecondary undergraduates, who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited four-year college or university for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Planning to major in Computer Science or a related field of study.

Award
If selected as a recipient, an award ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 will be granted. Award amounts will be determined based on financial need. Recipients must demonstrate financial need.

Awards are not renewable; however, students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Selection of Finalists
Scholarship finalists are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an outside appraisal. Financial need will be considered. Recipients must demonstrate need.

Scholarship America will select finalists and the American Museum of Natural History will select recipients.

Notification
Applicants will be notified in July. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of The American Museum of Natural History. Payments are made in early August.

As part of your application, you must upload the following documents:

  1. Current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Unofficial or online transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course, and term in which each course was taken.
  2. Copy of the first two pages of the most recently filed IRS Form 1040 used for the Financial Information Page. Please black out all social security numbers and bank account information.
    Applicants who are dependent* children must upload their parent’s most recently filed IRS 1040 tax form.
    • Financially independent applicants are required to upload their own most recently filed IRS 1040 tax form.
  3. Supplemental Financial Data Form (If needed)

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than June 11, 2021 3:00 pm Central Time.

Your application is not considered complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.
