H. Fletcher Brown Award

PNC Bank, N.A. Trustee of the PNC Bank Delaware (DE) Scholarships offers the H. Fletcher Brown Award for high school seniors planning to enter the first year of undergraduate study or college seniors planning to enter the first year of graduate school.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the H. Fletcher Brown Award must:

  • Be residents of Delaware who were born in Delaware.
  • Be high school seniors who plan to enter the first year of undergraduate study or college seniors planning to enter the first year of graduate study.
  • Be enrolled full-time in the study of Engineering, Chemistry, Medicine (M.D. or D.O.), Dentistry or Law at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, graduate school or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • High school seniors must have an SAT combined score of 1120 or higher.
  • Students entering graduate study must submit appropriate test scores for their field of study.
  • Have a class rank in the upper 20%.
  • Family income must be under $75,000 unless extenuating circumstances are demonstrated.

Awards

The authorized distribution for new and renewal awards is determined by PNC Bank, N.A. Trustee of the PNC Bank Delaware (DE) Scholarships.

Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance (2.5 GPA or better on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent).

Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in late May.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of PNC Bank, N.A. Trustee of the PNC Bank Delaware (DE) Scholarships. Payments are made in early August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic performance
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience, a statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Any unusual personal or family circumstances.

Financial need, as calculated by Scholarship America, must be demonstrated for the student to receive an award.

Scholarship America will process the applications for eligibility, and PNC Bank, N.A. Trustee of the PNC Bank Delaware (DE) Scholarships selection committee will select the recipients and determine the award amounts. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.
  • If SAT test scores are not included on the transcript, you must also upload a copy of your SAT test scores.
  • Graduate students must submit appropriate test scores for field of study.
  • First two pages of the most recently filed 1040 IRS Form (Please black out SSN).
  • A letter of recommendation from your principal or faculty adviser.
  • A copy of your birth certificate.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
