Casey Family Programs Employee Dependent Education Benefit Program
Application status: Closed

Casey Family Programs (CFP) has established a scholarship program to assist children of employees who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance, and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the Casey Family Programs Employee Dependent Education Benefit Program must:

  • Be unmarried.
  • Be dependent* children, age 25 and under, of full-time employees who have a minimum of one year of employment as of the application deadline, including a current employee who is or has previously been on a leave of absence approved by Casey Family Programs.
*Dependent children are defined as natural-born or legally adopted children or stepchildren or foster children living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.
  • Be current postsecondary undergraduate or graduate students enrolled full time in an undergraduate or graduate course of study at an accredited two- or four-year college or university or vocational school for the entire 2020-21 academic year.
  • Have earned at least a 2.5 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale.

Awards

Up to three educational benefits awards of $2,500 each will be awarded under the program as follows:

  • Board of Trustees Award for Academic Excellence: One award to the Dependent Child applicant of a CFP Employee who demonstrates academic excellence.
  • Board of Trustees Award for Exceptional Community Involvement: One award to the Dependent Child applicant of a CFP Employee who demonstrates exceptional community involvement.
  • Board of Trustees Award for Academic Strength and Community Involvement or Enterprising Initiative: One award to the Dependent Child applicant of a CFP Employee who demonstrates overall academic strength and community involvement or shows initiative and resourcefulness through employment or active participation in work-study programs.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic performance, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, a statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an online recommendation. Financial need is not considered.

Awards shall be made in a manner that reasonably represents the diversity of Casey Family Programs’ workforce and locations and that reaches as many employee families as possible. To that end, (a) applicants may receive an award only once, and (b) employee families may not receive an award more frequently than every other year.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Casey Family Programs play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in January.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Casey Family Programs. Payments are made in one installment in January.

Award checks will be payable jointly to the student recipient and his/her/their CFP employee parent. Benefit payments are taxable to the CFP employee.
