CASMI Scholarship Program

The Chicago Association of Spring Manufactures is proud to sponsor a scholarship program that benefits member company employees or their dependents.

The association, known as “CASMI,” was founded in 1944 to promote the interests of the Spring Manufacturing Industry in the greater Chicago area. It has engaged in many activities including sponsorship of the biennial SPRINGWORLD Trade Show. The success of that event makes it possible to fund many significant programs, including this scholarship program. As a result, CASMI is grateful to the many industry suppliers and spring manufacturers from all over the world who make it possible to provide this support that helps recipients to obtain the education that is so necessary to personal success.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. 

All eligible students are encouraged to apply for these awards.

Applicants to the CASMI Scholarship Program must be:

  • Full-time employees or their dependents* of either Primary Members or Associate Members of CASMI with a minimum of one year of employment at the time of the application deadline date.
    *Dependent children are defined as natural and legally adopted children or stepchildren living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.
  • Students who plan to enroll or who are already enrolled in full-time study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, graduate school or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.

 

Awards

CASMI is proud to support education for our member community. Employees of member companies and their dependents are eligible to apply for undergraduate scholarships valued at $2,500 and one $5,000 award for a post graduate applicant. Scholarships are awarded impartially, ensuring fair opportunities for all.

Awards can be used for any education-related expense.

A student may not apply for undergraduate and graduate study in the same year.

Awards are not renewable; however, students may reapply to the Program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Financial need is not considered.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Chicago Association of Spring Manufacturers, Inc. play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in June.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Chicago Association of Spring Manufacturers, Inc. Payment is made in August.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
    • Student name
    • School name
    • Grades
    • Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.
  • Must verify type of membership. If not correct, this could affect the status of your application during the selection process. *Note: Ask your employee parent or guardian to verify whether their company holds Primary (spring manufacturer, wire former, etc.) or Associate (supplier – materials, machinery, etc.) membership.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than May 7, 2025 3:00 pm Central Time.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
