Don D. Jordan Scholarship Program
Application status: Closed

The CenterPoint Energy Don D. Jordan Scholarship (formerly Chairman’s Fund) was established to provide recognition to students who have shown a consistent dedication to community involvement. This scholarship recognizes those students who have been motivated by their families to help others and invest in their community. In addition, it reinforces the corporate philosophy of community support.

This scholarship is funded from monies from the Don D. Jordan Foundation and proceeds of several fundraisers, including the CenterPoint Energy Barbecue Cook-off, the Salty Dog Fishing Tournament, and other generous contributors.

This program is administered by Scholarship America┬«, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation,┬á gender, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the CenterPoint Energy Scholarship Program must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be dependent* children, age 25 and under, of active, retired or deceased (while in service or retired) CNP legacy and Vectren legacy employees. Dependents of employees who are receiving long-term disability benefits are also eligible. Active CNP legacy employees must have at least one year of service as of Jan. 1, 2020. For 2020 scholarship programs, employee eligibility is extended to dependents of Vectren legacy employees who became part of the Company as of the merger date on February 1, 2019.

Students receiving a Don D. Jordan Scholarship are not eligible to receive a CenterPoint Energy Scholarship during the same academic year.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.
