Applicants will complete one application for consideration for all the scholarship funds under CFPBMC Employer Funds.
Scholarships funds included in the CFPBMC Employer Funds Application:
- Gunster Family Scholarship Fund
- Marcelle Heritage Foundation Scholarship
- Palm Beach Kennel Club Scholarship Fund
- The Weitz Company Scholarship Fund
- Willoughby Foundation Scholarship Fund
Applicants will apply to CFPBMC Employer Funds. One common application is completed to apply to any of the below funds. Applicants must meet the following criteria and the criteria of one or more of the scholarships listed:
- Be a graduating high school senior or graduate, GED holder, current undergraduate, or graduate student
- Be enrolled or plan to enroll in a part-time or full-time course of study at an accredited two- or four-year college/university or vocational-technical school or graduate program in the United States
- Certification programs must be through an accredited institution and must run on a standard academic semester calendar. Certification programs must be a minimum of one semester/term in length, and applicants must be enrolled at the time awards are disbursed.
- Minimum 2.0 GPA (unless otherwise noted)
- Children of Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties employees are not eligible for these awards
Gunster Family Scholarship Fund
- Be a current employee of Gunster, or a child/grandchild of a current Gunster employee employed for at least two years prior to the application deadline
- Gunster Shareholders and family of Shareholders are not eligible
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Preference given to applicants who demonstrate financial need
- Estimated five (5) awards of $2,500 will be granted for undergraduate or graduate study only
Marcelle Heritage Foundation Scholarship Fund
- Be a graduating high school senior or graduate who is:
- A member, or spouse or child of a member of Emmanuel Deliverance Church of God (EDCOG) for at least six months as of the application deadline (preference)
- OR
- From one of the following Palm Beach County high schools:
- Atlantic Community High School
- Boynton Beach Community High School
- Glades Central Community High School
- Lake Worth Community High School
- Pahokee Middle-Senior High School
- Palm Beach Lakes Community High School
- Santaluces Community High School
- Turning Point Academy – Alternative School
- Minimum 2.5 GPA
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Estimated one (1) award of $2,500 will be granted for undergraduate study only
Palm Beach Kennel Club Scholarship Fund
- Be a graduating high school senior or graduate, GED holder, or current undergraduate who is:
- A full-time or part-time employee of the Palm Beach Kennel Club employed at least one year of continuous corporate service as of the application deadline
OR
- A spouse, grandchild, child, niece or nephew (relatives) of a full-or part-time employee of the Palm Beach Kennel Club. Employee must have at least one year of employment as of the application deadline
- Be a U.S. Citizen
- Minimum 2.0 GPA
- Financial need will be considered but is not required
- Applicants returning from an absence from school are encouraged to apply
- Estimated five (5) awards of $1,300 will be granted for undergraduate study only
The Weitz Company Scholarship Fund
- Be a graduating high school senior or graduate, or GED holder who is:
- A child or relative of a current employee (as of the application deadline date) of the Weitz Co., FL Division
OR
- A resident of Palm Beach County or Martin County
- Be a U.S. Citizen
- Minimum 2.5 GPA
- Pursuing a degree or career in one of the following fields of study:
- Architecture
- Civil Engineering
- Construction Management
- Interior Design
- Other Construction-related fields (e.g. construction project management, mechanical/electrical engineering and trades
- Must demonstrate financial need
- Estimated three (3) awards of $3,000 will be granted for undergraduate study only
Willoughby Foundation Scholarship Fund
- Be a graduating high school senior or graduate, GED holder, current undergraduate, or graduate student who is:
- A current employee of Willoughby Golf Club (as of the application deadline date)
OR
- A spouse, child, or grandchild of a Willoughby Golf Club employee (as of the application deadline date)
- Minimum 2.5 GPA
- Preference given to applicants who demonstrate financial need
- Estimated six (6) awards of $3,000 to $6,000 based on the college type will be granted for undergraduate or graduate study only
Awards
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $1,300 to $6,000. An estimated 19 awards will be granted.
Applicants may receive ONE award per year from the Community Foundation of Palm Beach and Martin Counties.
Awards are not renewable. Applicants may reapply each year they are eligible.
Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study only.
The scholarship is to be used for tuition and education-related expenses. Unused funds must be returned to the Sponsor.
Notification
All applicants will be notified in June.
Payment of Scholarships
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties.
Payment is made in July.
Selection of Recipients
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:
- Academic performance
- Demonstrated leadership
- Participation in school and community activities
- A statement of educational and career goals and objectives (required)
- Unusual personal or family circumstances (optional, but highly encouraged)
- An online recommendation
- Financial need
Financial need, as calculated by Scholarship America, will be considered, but may not be required depending on the award.
Selection of finalists is made by Scholarship America. Community Foundation of Palm Beach and Martin Counties and an outside scholarship committee will review applicant data, including all essays responses, and select recipients. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
As part of your application, you must upload the following:

- A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
- Student name
- School name
- Grades
- Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.
NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.
One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than February 6, 2025 4:00 pm Central Time (5:00 PM Eastern Time).
