CFPBMC Employer Funds
Deadline to apply: February 8, 2024 5:00 pm CT (6:00 pm ET)

The Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties provides scholarship opportunities for students to pursue their educational goals. Scholarships are available for graduating high school seniors and undergraduates who are attending community colleges, four-year universities, and vocational/technical schools.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants will complete one application for consideration for all the scholarship funds under CFPBMC Employer Funds.

Scholarships funds included in the CFPBMC Employer Funds Application:

  • Gunster Family Scholarship Fund
  • Palm Beach Kennel Club Scholarship Fund
  • The Weitz Company Scholarship Fund
  • Willoughby Foundation Scholarship Fund

Applicants will apply to CFPBMC Employer Funds. One common application is completed to apply to any of the below funds. Applicants must meet the following criteria and the criteria of one or more of the scholarships listed:

  • Be a graduating high school senior, current undergraduate, or graduate student
  • Be enrolled or planning to enroll in a part-time or full-time course of study at an accredited two- or four-year college/university or vocational-technical school in the United States for the entire upcoming academic year
  • Awards are one-time only. Applicants may reapply each year they meet the eligibility requirements
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA

Children of foundation employees are ineligible.

Certification programs must be through an accredited institution and must run on a standard academic semester calendar. Certification programs must be a minimum of one semester/term in length, and applicants must be enrolled at the time awards are disbursed.

Gunster Family Scholarship Fund

  • Recipient must be an employee of Gunster*, or a child/grandchild of a Gunster employee employed for at least two years prior to the application deadline
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Preference given to applicants who demonstrate financial need
  • Estimated five (5) awards of $2,500 will be granted

*Gunster Shareholders and family of Shareholders are not eligible.

Palm Beach Kennel Club Scholarship Fund

  • Be a graduating high school senior or current undergraduate who is:
    • a full-time or part-time employee of the Palm Beach Kennel Club employed at least one year of continuous corporate service as of the application deadline
      OR
    • a spouse, grandchild, child, niece or nephew (relatives) of a full-or part-time employee of the Palm Beach Kennel Club. Employee must have at least one year of employment as of the application deadline
  • Be a U.S. Citizen
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Financial need not required
  • Estimated four (4) awards of $5,000 will be granted
  • Applicants returning from an absence from school are encouraged to apply

The Weitz Company Scholarship Fund

  • Be a graduating high school senior who is:
    • A child of an employee of the Weitz Co., FL Division
      OR
    • A resident of Palm Beach County or Martin County
  • Pursuing a degree or career in any Construction-related field, Civil Engineering, or Architecture
  • Be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Estimated up to (2) two awards of $3,000

Willoughby Foundation Scholarship Fund

  • Be a graduating high school senior, current undergraduate, or graduate student who is:
    • an employee of Willoughby Golf Club
      OR
    • a spouse, child, or grandchild of a Willoughby Golf Club employee
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Preference given to applicants who demonstrate financial need
  • Estimated five (5) awards a minimum of $2,500 will be granted

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $2,500 to $5,000. Up to 21 awards will be granted.

Awards are not renewable. Applicants may reapply each year eligibility requirements are met.

Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study only.

Applicants may receive ONE award per year from the Community Foundation of Palm Beach and Martin Counties.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in May.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties.

Payment is made in July.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Financial need, as calculated by Scholarship America, may be considered depending on the award.

Selection of finalists is made by Scholarship America. Community Foundation of Palm Beach and Martin Counties and an outside scholarship committee will review applicant data, including all essays responses, and select recipients. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than February 12, 2024 3:00 pm Central Time (4:00 PM Eastern Time).

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
