CFPBMC Interview Scholarships
Deadline to apply: February 8, 2024 5:00 pm CT (6:00 PM ET)

The Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties provides scholarship opportunities for students to pursue their educational goals. Scholarships are available for graduating high school seniors and undergraduates who are attending community colleges, four-year universities, and vocational/technical schools.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants will complete one application for consideration for all the scholarship funds under CFPBMC Interview Scholarships.

Scholarship funds included in the CFPBMC Interview Scholarships Application:

  • Barrat Scholarship Fund
  • Edward T. Bedford Foundation Scholarship Fund
  • Lawrence A. Sanders Scholarship Fund for Creative Writing
  • Mickey Mandelblatt Memorial Scholarship Fund
  • Oristano Scholar Fund II
  • Pundit Mulchand and Janki Devi Sharma Scholarship Fund
  • Sunburst Foundation Community Scholarship Fund

  • The Gubelmann Family Foundation Scholarship Fund

Applicants will apply to CFPBMC Interview Scholarships. One common application is completed to apply to any of the below funds. Applicants must meet the following criteria and the criteria of one or more of the scholarships listed:

  • Be a graduating high school senior
  • Be a resident of Florida
  • Be enrolled or planning to enroll in a part-time or full-time course of study at an accredited two- or four-year college/university or vocational-technical school in the United States for the entire upcoming academic year
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA

Children of foundation employees are ineligible.

*Certification programs must be through an accredited institution and must run on a standard academic semester calendar. Certification programs must be a minimum of one semester/term in length, and applicants must be enrolled at the time awards are disbursed.

Barrat Scholarship Fund

  • Be a graduating high school senior
  • Resident of Palm Beach County, Martin County, or Okeechobee County
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Preference given to applicants pursuing a degree or career in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or Applied Data
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Estimated (2) awards of a minimum of $10,000 will be granted

Edward T. Bedford Foundation Scholarship Fund

  • Be a graduating high school senior
  • Resident of Palm Beach County or Martin County
  • Attend or plan to attend a four-year college/university
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Preference given to applicants demonstrating extracurricular interests including athletics, artistry, literacy, or music
  • Estimated ten (10) awards of $2,500 will be granted

Lawrence A. Sanders Scholarship Fund for Creative Writing

  • Be a graduating high school senior
  • Resident Palm Beach County or Martin County
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Preference given to applicants pursuing a degree or career in Creative Writing
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Estimated three (3) awards of $2,500 will be granted

Mickey Mandelblatt Memorial Scholarship Fund

  • Be a graduating high school senior from:
    • Spanish River High School
    • Boca High School
    • Olympic Heights High School
    • Florence Fuller Development Center
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Must demonstrate they have faced significant challenges in their life
  • Estimated two (2) awards at $2,500 will be granted

Oristano Scholar Fund II

  • Be a graduating high school senior
  • Resident of Palm Beach County or Martin County
  • Maximum 3.3 GPA
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Preference given to applicants who self-identify as American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian, Black, African, or African American, Hispanic or Latino, or Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander
  • Estimated ten (10) awards of $5,000 will be granted

Pundit Mulchand and Janki Devi Sharma Scholarship Fund

  • Be a graduating high school senior
  • Resident Palm Beach County or Martin County
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Preference given to children of first-generation immigrants from India
  • Estimated two (2) awards of $2,500 will be granted

Sunburst Foundation Community Scholarship Fund

  • Be a graduating high school senior residing in Palm Beach County or Martin County
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Must pursue a degree in one of the following:
  • Astronomy
  • Biology
  • Botany
  • Chemistry
  • Computer Science
  • Ecological Sciences
  • Engineering
  • Geology
  • Mathematics
  • Nursing
  • Oceanography
  • Pharmacy
  • Physical Sciences
  • Physics
  • Pre-Dental
  • Pre-Medical
  • Pre-Veterinary
  • Zoological Sciences
  • Must demonstrate need
  • Preference to those who self-identify as American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian, Black, African, or African American, Hispanic or Latino, or Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander
  • Estimated (3) awards of $2,500 will be granted

Sydelle F & Arthur I. Meyer Scholarship

  • Graduating senior from the Dreyfoos School of the Arts
  • Must pursue a degree in Music or Visual Arts
  • Extracurricular activities to support interests
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Estimated one (1) award at $2,500 will be granted

The Gubelmann Family Foundation Scholarship Fund

  • Be a graduating high school senior
  • Resident of Palm Beach County or Martin County
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Preference given to applicants who self-identify as American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian, Black, African, or African American, Hispanic or Latino, or Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander
  • Estimated one (1) award of $2,500 will be granted

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $2,500 to $20,000. Up to 35 awards will be granted.

Applicants may receive ONE award per year from the Community Foundation of Palm Beach and Martin Counties.

Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance (maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale) in a part-time or full-time course of study and continuation of the program by the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in May.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of the Community Foundation for Palm Beach and Martin Counties.

Payment is made in July.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Financial need, as calculated by Scholarship America, may be considered, depending on the award.

Selection of finalists is made by Scholarship America. Community Foundation of Palm Beach and Martin Counties and an outside scholarship committee will review applicant data, including all essays responses, and select recipients. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than February 12, 2024 3:00 pm Central Time (4:00 PM Eastern Time).
