The cg42 Foundation Scholarship Program

cg42 is a New York-based management consulting firm. They take a human-centered approach to helping clients solve strategic business challenges. In that spirit, the cg42 Foundation aims to provide post-secondary education opportunities to students who demonstrate strong critical thinking skills, intellectual curiosity and an interest in human behavior.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to The cg42 Foundation Scholarship Program must:

    • Be high school seniors (including homeschool students) in the U.S.
    • Be U.S. citizens, nationals, permanent residents, refugees, asylees or humanitarian parolees
    • Plan to pursue a major or minor in one of the following: Humanities, Liberal Arts, and Social Sciences
    • Have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent)
    • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at one of the accredited four-year colleges or universities listed below for the entire upcoming academic year:
  • Auburn University
  • Boston College
  • Drexel University
  • Fairfield University
  • George Mason University
  • Hampton University
  • Randolph-Macon College
  • Stanford University
  • Tulane University
  • University of Dayton
  • University of Georgia
  • University of Notre Dame
  • University of Southern California
  • University of Texas at Austin
  • Virginia Commonwealth University
  • Williams College
  • Yale University

Children of employees of The cg42 Foundation and cg42, LLC are ineligible.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $10,500 award. Up to 2 awards will be granted.

Recipients are encouraged to participate in a mentorship program. This includes:

  • An assigned mentor with optional 1:1 check-ins throughout the year
  • Access to additional support from the cg42 team on an as-needed basis

Awards may be renewed for up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance (maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale), full-time enrollment in a Humanities, Liberal Arts, and Social Sciences major or minor, and continuation of the program by The cg42 Foundation.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Awards are for qualified education-related expenses only (tuition, fees, books, and required supplies/equipment).

Recipients will receive a lifetime total award of $42,000 (contingent upon listed renewal criteria).

Notification

All applicants will be notified in July.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of The cg42 Foundation. Payment is made in August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Demonstrated academic excellence
  • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork
  • Participation in activities and/or volunteer work in school or community
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation
  • An essay

Financial need, as calculated by Scholarship America, must be demonstrated for the student to receive an award.

Selection of finalists is made by Scholarship America and selection of recipients is made by The cg42 Foundation. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Finalist candidates will be invited to participate in a virtual interview with The cg42 Foundation team, in which you will discuss:

  • An extracurricular activity (sports, arts, theater, etc.) about which you’re extremely passionate
  • A difficult situation you faced where you were able to avoid panic and push through successfully

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.
  • Copy of the first two pages of the most recently filed IRS Form 1040 used for the Financial Information section of the application. Please black out all social security numbers and bank account information.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than March 28, 2024 3:00 pm Central Time.
