The Chapman Scholarship Program
Application status: Closed

Banner Health has established a scholarship program to assist employees of Banner Boswell Medical Center and Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center who plan to continue their education in college or vocational-technical school programs pursuing an industry-related area of study.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to The Chapman Scholarship Program must:

  • Be current/active full-time or part-time employees of Banner Boswell Medical Center or Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center who have been employed for a minimum of six months as of the application deadline date
  • Be high school graduates, current college undergraduates or graduate level students
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate or graduate study at an accredited two-or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school in Arizona for the entire upcoming academic year
  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Plan to pursue a degree in an area of study related to Banner Health’s industry (Medical, Finance, Business, etc.)

Executives, Directors and Supervisor employees are ineligible.

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award up to $10,000. Up to 10 awards will be granted.

Awards are renewable for up to three years or until a bachelor’s or graduate degree is earned, whichever occurs first, on the basis of satisfactory academic performance maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, full-time or part-time enrollment, pursing an eligible area of study and continued employment.

Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study only.

All applicants will be notified in June.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Banner Health. Payment is made in August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Financial need
  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances

Selection of finalists is made by Scholarship America. Banner Health will select recipients. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than April 22, 2024 2:00 pm Mountain Time.
