CIT Scholarship Program
Application status: Closed

CIT Group has established a scholarship program to assist employees’ children who plan to continue their education in college. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at any accredited two- or four-year college, university, vocational-technical or institution of advanced education.

This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship America, the largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals in the U.S. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability or national origin.

Applicants to the CIT Scholarship Program must:

  • Be the child of a regular full-time or part-time CIT employee (grade 416 and below) working a minimum of 25 hours per week, in the U.S., Canada, or international location who is actively employed at the time an award is approved, and has completed one year of service as of the application deadline date.
  • Be a current high school senior from a U.S. high school, Canadian higher secondary school or international equivalent.
  • Be planning to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, vocational-technical or institution of advanced education for the entire upcoming academic year.

Award Information

CIT will determine both the number and value of awards to be granted.

Awards cannot exceed the cost of study. The award checks will be issued in U.S. currency.

Awards are one-time only. Past recipients may not reapply.

Awards are for undergraduate study only and cannot exceed educational costs.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an online recommendation.

Financial need will not be considered.

Academic evaluation of international applicants will include a review of the grade/mark average based on the grading system used in the applicant’s country and a review of the results of academic examinations.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. CIT will determine both the number and value of awards to be granted. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in August. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of CIT Group. Payments are made in one installment in August.
