The Clausen Family Scholarship Program

The Clausen Family has established a scholarship program to assist children of employees who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the The Clausen Family Scholarship Program must:

  • Dependent* children, age 24 and under, of full-time or part-time V-T Industries employees who have a minimum of one year of employment as of the application deadline.
    *Dependent children are defined as natural and legally adopted children or stepchildren living in the employee’s household or primarily supported by the employee.
  • United States applicants must be high school seniors or graduates who plan to enroll, or students who are enrolled in their first year in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire academic year.
  • Canadian applicants must be students in their final year of secondary school, secondary school graduates, or CEGEP students in their final year who plan to enroll, or students who are already enrolled in their first year of full-time university level studies for the entire academic year. (Students planning Fall enrollment in a CEGEP institution are not eligible to apply.)

Only one award may be given per family in any one year. An additional award to the same family may not be given in consecutive years. After a lapse of one year, another award may be given to a child in the same family. 

Note: Students currently enrolled in their second, third, or fourth year of college/university are not eligible. 

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a $2000 award. Awards may be renewed for up to one additional year. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance in a full-time course of study and continuation of the program by the Clausen Family.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in July.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of the Clausen Family. Payment is made in August. The award checks will be issued in U.S. currency for U.S. recipients, and Canadian currency for Canadian recipients.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation

Financial need is not considered. Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Clausen Family play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display:
    • Student name
    • School name
    • Grades
    • Credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf no later than May 16, 2025 3:00 pm Central Time.
