Clif Family Foundation Scholarship Program
Application status: Closed

The Clif Family Foundation has established a scholarship program to assist dependent children of employees of Clif Bar & Company, Clif Bar & Baking Company – Twin Falls, Clif Bar Baking Company – Indianapolis, or Clif Family Winery & Farm who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Clif Family Foundation Scholarship Program must:

  • Be a dependent of an active, full-time employee of Clif Bar & Company, Clif Bar Baking Company – Twin Falls, Clif Bar Baking Company – Indianapolis, or Clif Family Winery & Farm who has been with the company for a minimum of 1-year employment as of the application deadline. Dependents for this purpose include the following three groups:
    • Individuals who are enrolled in a medical plan of the employer as a dependent of an employee;
    • Individuals claimed as a dependent on an employee’s federal tax return; and
    • Descendants (biological, adopted or by marriage) of an employee who are part of an employee’s household for federal tax purposes.
  • Be a high school graduate or current postsecondary undergraduate and age 26 or under.
  • Have a cumulative grade-point average of 2.5 or higher at the time of applying.
  • Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study* at an accredited two- or four-year college (excluding proprietary and online-only school) or vocational-technical school.

Note: Spouses and life partners of employees are not eligible to participate in this program.

Up to 10 awards of $10,000 each will be granted annually unless fewer awards are required to administer the program in full compliance with IRS Revenue Procedure 76-47.

Only one (1) award will be granted per family per year.

Preference will be given to new recipients and non-consecutive awardees who meet the eligibility requirements.

Awards are not renewable; however, students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. (Per IRS Revenue Procedure 76-47, the employment eligibility requirements does not apply to previous recipients.)

Recipients are allowed a maximum of two (2) scholarships per lifetime.

If a recipient elects to defer for one term in the 2022-23 academic year, they will only be awarded for the term in which they enroll.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Selection of Recipients
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and financial need. These are factored into the selection in the following manner: 50% financial need, 35% academics and 15% personal data. Financial need, as calculated by Scholarship America, must be demonstrated for the student to receive an award.

Consideration will be given to select a diverse group of recipients.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of the Clif Family Foundation play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Applicants will be notified in late August. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Clif Family Foundation. Payments are made in one installment in September.
