Clif Family Foundation Scholarship Program
Application status: Closed

The Clif Family Foundation has established a scholarship program to assist children of employees who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

This program is administered by Scholarship America┬«, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the Clif Family Foundation Scholarship Program must:

  • Be a dependent* child, age 26 and under, of an active full-time Clif Bar & Company, Clif Bar Baking Company of Twin Falls, Clif Bar Baking Company of Indianapolis, or Clif Family Winery & Farm employee who has been with the company for a minimum of 1-year employment as of the application deadline.
*Dependents for this program include the following three groups:

    1. Individuals who are enrolled in a medical plan of the employer as a dependent of an employee.
    2. Individuals claimed as a dependent of an employee’s federal tax return; and
    3. Dependents (biological, adopted, or by marriage) of an employee who are part of an employee’s household for federal tax purposes.

  • Be high school seniors or graduates, or current postsecondary undergraduates, who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study** at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university (excluding proprietary and online-only schools), or vocational-technical school.
**Online coursework enrollment from accredited colleges that would traditionally conduct in-person curriculum will be allowed for the 2020-21 academic year due to COVID 19.
  • Have a cumulative grade-point average of 2.5 or higher at the time of applying.
  • Submit a completed application, including required documents (transcript, 1040 tax information and the submission of an outside appraisal) by Friday, July 10.

Note: Spouses and life partners of employees are not eligible to participate in this program.

Up to 10 awards of $10,000 each will be granted annually unless fewer awards are required to administer the program in full compliance with IRS Revenue Procedure 76-47. Awards will be $10,000 for the first year as a recipient. If selected for subsequent years, the award will be at a reduced amount.

Awards are not renewable; however, students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. Recipients are allowed a maximum of two (2) scholarships per lifetime.

Only one (1) award will be granted per family per year unless there are not enough qualified applicants.

Preference will be given to new recipients.

If a recipient elects to defer for one term in the 2020-21 academic year, they will be awarded the full amount for the term in which they enroll.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Selection of Recipients
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, an online recommendation, and financial need. Financial need, as calculated by Scholarship America, must be demonstrated for the student to receive an award.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of the Clif Family Foundation play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Applicants will be notified by Friday, August 14, 2020. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Clif Family Foundation. Payments are made in one installment in September.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

Also as part of your application, one online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf.
