Deadline to apply: April 12, 2021 3:00 pm CT

Cognizant Technology Solutions has established a scholarship program to assist students pursuing a career in trust and safety, specifically focused on content moderation, who are enrolling in their junior and senior year of undergraduate study or graduate study for the entire upcoming academic year.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance, and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards for this scholarship are granted to eligible recipients without regard to creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, disability, or national origin.

Applicants to the The Trust & Safety Scholarship Program must:

  • Be a current sophomore (rising junior), junior or senior undergraduate student or graduate level student. (Students in their final year of an undergraduate degree must plan to enroll in a part-time or full-time graduate program for the upcoming academic year.)
  • Plan to pursue a career in trust and safety specifically focused on content moderation.
  • Be enrolled or plan to enroll in part-time or full-time undergraduate or graduate study at an accredited four-year college, university or graduate school for the entire upcoming academic year.
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a scholarship up to $20,000. Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study only.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in late May.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Cognizant Technology Solutions. Payment is made in early August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic performance, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, unusual personal or family circumstances, an online recommendation by a professor/instructor who can attest to your interest in pursuing a career in trust and safety, a short statement related to your interest in the field of trust and safety, and a statement of career and educational goals and objectives.

Financial need, as calculated by Scholarship America, must be demonstrated for the student to receive an award.

Preference will be given to students pursuing degrees in computer science, public policy and/or law.

Selection of finalists is made by Scholarship America, and Cognizant Technology Solutions will determine the recipients. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.
  • Copy of the first two pages of your IRS Form 1040 used to complete the Financial Information section of the application.

One online recommendation form must be submitted on your behalf by a professor at your current academic institution no later than April 15, 2021 3:00 pm.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
