The Earl and Kathryn Congdon Family Foundation has established a scholarship program to assist children of employees who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.
The program is administered by Scholarship America, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship, tuition assistance and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability or national origin.
Applicants to the Earl and Kathryn Congdon Family Foundation Scholarship Program must be:
**Brick-and-Mortar has a physical campus with physical learning resources, facilities for students, dorms, in-person tutoring, counseling and healthcare services.
Children of executive employees, substantial contributors and those serving on the foundation and their lineal descendants are not eligible.
Lineal descendants of Earl and Kathryn Congdon are excluded from consideration.
Award Amounts
New distribution will be determined at time of selection and will be based on how many renewal students are still eligible; a total of 100 awards at $5,000 per award (new and renewal) will be granted for the 2021 program year.
Renewal is contingent upon maintaining a 2.75 or higher GPA in a full-time course of study and continuation of the program by the Earl and Kathryn Congdon Family Foundation.
Nonrecipients may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
Awards are for undergraduate study only.
Selection of Recipients
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an online recommendation. Financial need is not considered.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of the Earl and Kathryn Congdon Family Foundation or ODFL play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
Notification
Applicants will be notified in late- April. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Nonrecipients may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
Payment of Scholarships
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of the Earl and Kathryn Congdon Family Foundation. Payments are made in one installment in August.
