Scott Cook and Signe Ostby have established a scholarship program to assist employees’ children who plan to continue their education in private secondary school, private or public college or university, or vocational-technical programs. Students enrolled in full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice may qualify for up to $47,600 in total funding over four years.
The sponsors’ intent is to reward students who have demonstrated that they are “go-getters,” make the best of any circumstances and make a real difference due to their personal leadership, drive, determination, and organizational skills.
This program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined by the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, disability, or national origin.
Applicants to the Program must be:
Children of the President and Chairman are not eligible.
Financial need will be considered in determining the amount of the award. Awards will range from $5,950 to $11,900 per year. Applicants who show no financial need or choose not to complete the financial section will be eligible to receive the minimum award of $5,950 per year. We strongly encourage all applicants to complete the financial section of the application before submitting, as Scholarship America cannot accept this information at a later date.
Award amounts are listed in U.S. dollars (USD) and award payments will be issued in USD. Recipients may choose to receive award payments in their local currency when available.
Students enrolled for only part of an academic year (e.g., a quarter or semester) may receive a pro-rated award.
Awards can be used for full-time study at a private secondary school or at an accredited postsecondary or vocational-technical institution of the student’s choice and are intended to pay for tuition, fees, books and supplies, and required equipment.
All awards are renewable up to three times or until graduation, whichever occurs first, by maintaining a 3.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) and full-time enrollment for at least one quarter or semester. Students enrolled in their first year of college may renew their award by maintaining a 2.7 cumulative grade point average. Students not meeting the GPA requirement may submit an appeal stating extenuating circumstances regarding their academic performance; such appeals will be reviewed by the Sponsor. Recipients of private secondary or upper or higher secondary awards must reapply for postsecondary awards, provided that an individual recipient may receive a maximum of four years of Program funding across their secondary and postsecondary studies.
Applicants may receive an award from both The Scott Cook and Signe Ostby Scholarship Program for Children of Intuit Employees and The George A. Hansen Scholarship Program for Children of Intuit Employees in the same year.
Scholarship recipients are selected based on:
Once scholarship recipients are selected, financial data is reviewed to determine the amount of each award.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance do the sponsors play a part in the selection process. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
Applicants will be notified in late March. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.
Payment is made by check in July or August for U.S. and Canadian students. Payment is made by wire transfer in August or September to students residing outside the U.S. and Canada.
