Costello Scholarship Program

PNC Bank, N.A., as trustee of the Costello Trust has established a scholarship program to assist students who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals.

Applicants to the Costello Scholarship Program must:

  • High school seniors or graduates, or current postsecondary undergraduates, who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.

PNC Employees, children of PNC employees or Trust committee members are ineligible.

*Preference will be given as follows:

  1. First, to students who are members of the St. Joseph the Worker Parish and who attend St. John Neumann Regional Academy with preference given to high achieving students;
  2. Next, to students attending St. John Neumann Regional Academy and who are members of any parish in the Diocese of Scranton with preference give to high achieving students; and
  3. Thereafter, to students attending a Catholic high school within the Diocese of Scranton with preference given to high achieving students.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a minimum $1,000 award. Up to two awards will be granted to one male and one female. Awards are renewable up to three years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, on the basis of satisfactory academic performance (maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale), and fulltime enrollment.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in early August.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of PNC Bank, N.A., Payment is made in August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record.

Financial need is not considered.

Scholarship America will evaluate all eligible applicants and provide results to PNC Bank, Trustee with recommended recipients and award amounts. The Trust committee, or an outside committee will select recipients and determine award amounts. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.


As part of your application, you must upload the following:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.

NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

Your application is not complete unless all required materials are submitted electronically.
