Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP has established a scholarship program to assist students from specific high schools in Texas who plan to pursue an associate degree in Process Technology.
The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.
Applicants to the Technical Education for Energized Careers Scholarship must meet all of the following criteria:
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award of up to $5,000. Award amounts will be determined based on the cost of attendance (COA) as determined by each recipient’s college plus a stipend for books and supplies.
Provided there are qualified applicants, at least one award will be granted to a student at each one of the designated high schools, with a total of up to seven (7) awards granted.
Applicants selected to participate in this scholarship opportunity will need to pass both written and medical assessments prior to final approval of the scholarship. Recipients will be required to complete a pre-hire testing protocol and physical agility assessment.
Awards are renewable up to 1 year or until an associate degree is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon the basis of satisfactory academic performance (maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale) and continued full-time enrollment in a Process Technology program at a two-year community college.
Awards are for undergraduate study at a two-year community college only.
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:
Financial need will also be considered. Recipients must demonstrate financial need.
Assuming there are qualified applicants, preference will be given to applicants who self-identify as female and/or American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian, Black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander.
Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.
Recipients may be provided additional opportunities from the Chevron Phillips Chemical Company.
All applicants will be notified in June.
Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP. Payments are made in August and December.
