Dr. Peter T. Swallow Founder's Education Fund
Application status: Closed

Creative Foam has established a scholarship program to assist children of employees who plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. Renewable scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarships and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants to the Dr. Peter T. Swallow Founder’s Education Fund must be:

  • Dependent children* or dependent grandchildren** of full-time Creative Foam employees who have a minimum of six (6) months of employment with the company as of the application deadline date.
*Dependent children are defined as biological, stepchildren or legally adopted children living in the employee’s household or
    primarily supported by the employee.

**Dependent grandchildren are defined as grandchildren living in the employee’s household and primarily supported by the
    employee.
  • High school seniors or graduates, or current postsecondary undergraduates, who plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.

Dependents of executive-level employees are not eligible to apply.

Dependents who are also employees of Creative Foam are not eligible to apply.

Awards

If selected as a recipient, students attending a two-year college or a vocational-technical school will be awarded $2,500, and awards to recipients attending a four-year college or university will be $5,000. The recipient’s parent must be a Creative Foam employee at the time checks are issued in August. Awards may be renewed for students enrolled in a two-year college or vocational-technical school up to one additional year or until a certificate or associate’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, and for students enrolled in a four-year college or university up to three additional years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first.

Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance (maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent) in a full-time course of study, continued employment of the student’s parent or grandparent at Creative Foam, and continuation of the program by Creative Foam. Recipients attending a two-year college or vocational technical school who transfer to a four-year college or university may receive $5,000 per year up to the combined total of four years.

Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic record
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives
  • Unusual personal or family circumstances
  • An online recommendation.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer or employee of Creative Foam play a part in the selection. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients. Students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

Notification

All applicants will be notified in May.

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of Creative Foam. Payments are made in August.
