Donald Agnew Collins Memorial Scholarship Program

D.A. Collins Construction Co., Inc. has established the Donald Agnew Collins Memorial Scholarship Program to assist D.A. Collins Companies employees and their spouses and children who plan to enroll in undergraduate or graduate study at a two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school.

The program is administered by Scholarship America®, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship and other education support programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals. Eligibility for individual programs is determined at the sole discretion of the sponsor, and eligible applications are reviewed by Scholarship America’s evaluation team.

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be current active, full-time D.A. Collins Companies employees who have two (2) years of service with 1,000 hours worked annually, and/or their spouses and children/stepchildren who are pursuing higher education.
  • Be planning to enroll in part- or full-time undergraduate or graduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year.

Shareholders and board members, including their spouses and children/stepchildren are not eligible to apply.

Award Amounts

The authorized distribution for new awards is $32,000. Up to eight (8) awards of $4,000 can be granted. Awards are not renewable; however, students may reapply to the program each year they meet eligibility requirements.

Awards are for undergraduate and graduate study.

Notification

Applicants will be notified in late June.

Payment of Scholarships

Scholarship America processes scholarship payments on behalf of D.A. Collins Construction Co., Inc. Payments are made in one installment in early August.

Selection of Recipients

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of:

  • Academic performance
  • Demonstrated leadership and participation in community activities
  • Work experience
  • A statement of educational and career goals and objectives

Applicants will also be asked to write something about Donald Agnew (D.A.) Collins to honor his memory. Responses will not be considered during the evaluation or recipient selection process.

Financial need will not be considered.

Preference may be given to applicants pursuing a degree focusing in civil engineering, construction, construction management, field-specific trade or skill, and other construction-related programs.

Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship America. In no instance does any officer of D.A. Collins Construction Co., Inc. play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final.

As part of your application, you must upload the following document:

  • A current, complete transcript of grades. Grade reports are not accepted. Transcripts must display student name, school name, grades and credit hours for each course and term in which each course was taken.
    NOTE: If you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.

Your application is not complete unless all required documents are submitted electronically.
